Gary has served as the Family Pastor for FBC Screven since March of 2023. He was a Youth Pastor in North Georgia before joining the Screven community. He is currently in school for his Bachelor’s in Christian Studies with a concentration in Student Ministry at Truett McConnell University.
He has a wife, Ashley (married since 2014), and three beautiful children, Grayson, Aidan, and Ella. Aidan has been battling Leukemia since 2021 and that is just a piece of testimony for what God has done in the life of Gary.
Gary is an exegetical preacher with application points to connect Scripture to real life. He has a passion for discipleship and the Great Commission. He loves to see students of all ages to know Jesus and grow in His kingdom as he leads through the Holy Spirit knowing he is nothing without God.
Gary’s passions are spending time with family, Braves Baseball, UGA Football, soccer, anything to do with his Traeger smoker, and reading his Bible.
Administrative Assistant Tammy Shanklin
Tammy has served as administrative assistant at First Baptist Church Screven since 2009. She lives in Gardi with her husband, Carl. They have two adult children, Caitlin and Tessa, and four grandchildren she likes to spoil.
She enjoys traveling, camping and shopping. She and her husband are members of First Baptist Church of Screven.
Favorite verse: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
